In Islamabad, Pakistan on Thursday, February 27th, 2014, Allama Iqbal Open University initiated its Pollution Free Pakistan campaign. The campaign headed by Secretary General, PRCS, Dr Mehboob Sardar and Director, Institute of Educational Technology, AIOU, Muhammad Qasim Haider who believe that this campaign is only the beginning of an ongoing and developing relationship with a new “Green Pakistan”. The campaign which spans across all AIOU campuses asks that students become involved in actively reshaping the environment by becoming environmentalists, advocates for the preservation and recreation of their own environment, by each planting a tree and taking care of it. For those unaware of the environmental situation in Pakistan this campaign hopes to breathe new life into a country that has suffered from a host of environmental misfortune most notably severe earth quakes as such have occurred in 2005, 2008 and 2013. In connection with this AIOU’s Vice chancellor Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi hopes to recreate this campaign on other university campuses nationwide and on the regular basis. Click Here for more photos.
