On Thursday April 9th, 2015  AIOU Professor Moiz Ahmed, Academic Liaison to PDEEP, and Atif Solangi, PDEEP Contract Manager at our partner University AIOU in Islamabad, Pakistan, hosted an informational session with senior AIOU Computer Science students from its Lahore Regional Campus. The session contained information on the PDEEP Student Internship Stipend program and shared the vision of telecommuting possibilities for Computer Science students in Pakistan. The seminar opened with a brief summary of history of telecommunications at AIOU and the current systems that are in place.  In doing this the students were presented a vision of how the use of communication technologies is pushing AIOU forward and that online learning is a step in the right direction.

A persistent theme for the session was that positive change is coming to education at AIOU, new methods of teaching are being developed, new technologies are becoming more accessible, and this is making possible entirely new employment possibilities for telecommuting– even in remote areas where high tech jobs currently do not exist. Applications are now being taken for 30 prestigious PDEEP student internships, and equal numbers of male and female candidates will be selected.
